WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Request Jeans Drawstring Hoodies because of a strangulation hazard.
The jackets, made in China and distributed by Request Jeans of New York, N.Y., include drawstrings that can strangle a child, CPSC said in a statement. The recalled garments are short and long-sleeve jackets with item numbers 11188SG (short-sleeve) and 11218LG (long-sleeve). The short sleeve jacket has “Request” printed on the fabric. The long-sleeved hoodie has a butterfly design on the back and chest, CPSC said. About 1,200 of the jackets were sold nationwide from January 2007 to March 2007 for about $36. CPSC advised consumers to remove the drawstrings immediately or return the garment to the place of purchase or to Request Jeans for a refund. Consumers can also call Request Jeans collect at 212-302-0077 for information.
