Dussault at Kustom

Thursday night, led me to Kustom, in the South Street Sea Port.
Kustom is a beautiful store with a strong menswear department. The visual draw of the store is the custom motorcycles on display, luring in thousands a day to get a peek at these one of a kind choppers.
I sat down with co-owner, Juan Justicia to talk with him and Jason, “Deuce” Dussault, one of Canada’s most celebrated designers who recently added his line to the store.
Dussault’s clothing lines are hugely popular in Canada, with his hoodies selling out well over their suggested retail price. This is a testament his extremely high production quality and detail.

Now, Deuce had better have extremely high production quality, as a $10,000.00 pair of his jeans was on display in the store. Yeah, 10K for denim… They actually list denim for $250K on the website… http://www.dussaultapparel.com/250denim/
Dussault is a good fit for Kustom. The vibe of his line and the high quality of his work, match well with the custom bikes and artistic appeal of the products in this store.
As more fashionable types become aware of this store, and the tourists who are excited to see and buy a clothing line backed by Gene Simmon’s and Chris Angel, these could be a growing market for them.
Still, the tourist location of the store, which leads to foot traffic, has to convert into sales, so I expect Kustom to continue to edit its lines and adjust it’s merchandising to fully capitalize on its positioning.
